Are these viral 'nesting parties' really the new and more practical baby shower?

Help out a mumma to be!

If you’re not one for the overload of attention, not to mention the stress of a baby shower, it might be time for the new nesting party trend to take over.

Expecting parents rush to get everything ready during the last weeks of pregnancy, and It’s usually a long list left to do on their own.

With a nesting party, friends and family roll up their sleeves to dive into the nitty-gritty prep work before your little one arrives.

After all, many hands make light work, right?!

New mum Nia (@nialui21) posted her nesting party on TikTok showing her friend helping with everything from cleaning the entire house from top to bottom, organising the pantry and even prepping frozen meals for her post-partum.

“My friend organised it and I sent her a list of things I wanted to get done before the baby came,” she said.

“So, she made little cards for each person to take on a section of the house,” Nia added on how they tackled the tasks.

People love the thoughtfulness of helping the nester, with one woman writing: “This is a true village and I love everything about it.”

“I refuse to go to baby showers but I would show up early for a nesting party,” another added.

While a third joked: “Can I have a toddler nesting party?? B/c I’m not having any more babies but I need help cleaning up after my kids haha”

Want some inspo for your nesting party? Here’s some ideas to put on your own cards:

  • Prep the baby’s clothes and put them all away
  • Build the nursery - pram, cot, changing table etc.
