We all have that one teacher who had an impact on our schooling years, one that we may still reflect on every so often.
Our High School Hit Countdown had the Breakfast Club reminiscing on their High School Years, with Lana sharing how she often reflects on the impact of ‘Mrs. Gray’.
“I never really got the chance to tell her at Dargaville High School back in the early 2000s”.
This morning, Speedy tracked down Mrs Gray so Lana could finally give her the credit she deserved after all these years.
While holding back tears, Lana expressed “What you did back in the early 2000s for not only me, but a lot of my pairs in Dargaville, has changed our lives”
Lana explained that Mrs Gray had come from Bristol, to teach at Dargaville High School, which Mrs Gray described as ‘moving back to the 1960s’ compared to Bristol.
Describing Mrs. Gray as ‘Incredible’ and a ‘game changer’ in her life Lana said “You came to us like a bright spark, you connected with us, you taught us empathy"
"You taught us about equality across the board which in a town like Dargaville, was really important”
After referring to herself as an ‘extracurricular kid’, it seems like Lana was just like us all at school with Mrs Gray revealing “There were many times when you hadn't done your homework”
“I’ve still got written in the book, that you owe me an essay about neoplasticism and images of perfection. It is scribbled in the book, underlined Lana Searle Overdue”
Unfortunately, she won’t be getting that anytime soon, with Lana asking “Could I get that back to you by 2030”
